5 Things To Do In Kauai

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

In August 2017, my husband and I and a couple of our friends went on an unforgettable trip to Hawaii. We spent a couple days in Maui and the rest of the trip on Kauai (with the exception on a day trip to Pearl Harbor). Kauai was my favorite part of the trip and I'm so excited to share a few highlights.

1. Helicopter Ride

I probably should save the best for last, but I'm just too excited to share this one. On a whim, we decided to do a doors-off helicopter tour over Kauai with Jack Harter Helicopters and it was one of the best parts of our trip. The booking process was easy, the pilot was friendly and an amazing guide. Finally, being able to experience all of Kauai from the air and feeling the air change as we moved to various parts of the island was absolutely one of the coolest experiences of my life. Don't think, just book it! You will not regret it.

2. Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau

When planning our trip to Hawaii, a family member recommended Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau and I'm so glad they did! This was such a fun and unique experience. This is a family run business and it definitely shows. The heart and soul put into the ceremony, the feast, and the show after dinner is incredible. Everything was amazing, but my favorite part was that the feast is served family style which is always fun and allows you to meet people you may never have met.

3. Kauai Sea Riders Na Pali Coast Zodiak Boat Tour & Snorkeling

We booked this Kauai Sea Riders Na Pali Coast Tour on a whim and we will never forget it. Being on a zodiak boat whipping through the waves, around the Na Pali Coast, in and out of caves, it was so exhilarating! Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique adventure!

4. Wailua Falls

Wailua Falls is one of the most beautiful sights in Kauai and it is so easily accessible - you can drive right up to the side of the falls! There is endless natural beauty in Kauai so just get out and explore!

5. Go surfing

I have to admit, I was too chicken to surf on this trip. I have never surfed before and I wanted to get lessons for my first time, but it was our last day and, to be honest, I just wanted to bask in the sun and read. Guess I'll just have to go back. ;) But my husband was dying to surf (he has done it before so was far more confident than I was) so he went out behind our hotel, rented a board, and off he went!

Until next time!
